Zombie Minesweeper

Go to the Zombie Minesweeper Website!

Zombie Minesweeper started out as a classic conversation between me and Lara Kehler:

"We should make a game based on minesweeper!"

"Yeah! With zombies!"

The basic idea was, well hey, Minesweeper is the most played game in the world! That has to be worth something, right? But what if instead of being an abstract cursor-based game, we gave the player an avatar and they actualy had to run through the minefield? And in order to increase the tension, they'd be chased by zombies. What could possibly go wrong?

Well, nothing really, it turns out. The game came together smoothly, cranked out in 2 months by Lara and myself in time for the Kongregate Unity Game contest. Feedback has been overwhelmingly positive (much more so than I anticipated!) and people seem to want more of this.

There was a major struggle making this game, though: Trying to balance the action elements of the gameplay with the puzzle elements. In the end, the game needs another few months of polish before I'd really call it awesome, but I'm ridiculously happy with what we came up with in such a short time!
